When Kapil Sharma started his comedy show in 2013, many excellent actors were associated with him. One of them was Ali Asgar, who played the role of ‘Dadi’ and became popular in every household. When the show was renamed ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ and was brought to Sony Channel, Ali Asgar continued to play female characters. But after a time he suddenly left the show, which surprised the fans.
People have a long time in mind – why did Ali Asgar leave the show?
Ali Asghar said – “I was tired, every time I have a female role?”
In an interview given to Lalantop Cinema, Ali Asgar openly answered the question. He said:
“No, there was no fight or conflict with my Kapil. I was tired of playing that female character. People used to like me in that getup, but I was bored with that role myself.”
He told that even when he was in comedy circus, he was given a female role most of the time, and the same series continued till ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.
“If I have become a woman in 18-20 out of 26 episodes, then that role became a repetition for me.”
“Grandma” was changed to become identity
Ali Asgar said that when he was called at an event or stage show, the same grandmother was sought there.
“People started calling me ‘Grandma’, not by real name. In such a situation, I felt that we should do something new now.”
He decided to leave the show himself, and said that “The above is the kind of work that there is never a shortage of work. I am still doing well today.”
