Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Uttar Pradesh until June 30, 2025, predicting widespread showers across nearly 60 districts. The forecast also indicates a slight drop in temperatures, offering respite from the persistent heat and humidity. While recent days saw sporadic showers in parts of UP, the anticipated monsoon rains are set to intensify, bringing much-needed relief.
Regional Alerts:
  • Orange Alert: Western UP districts, including Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, and nearby areas, are expected to experience heavy rainfall.
  • Yellow Alert: Districts such as Shamli, Baghpat, Amroha, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, and surrounding regions are likely to see moderate rainfall.
  • Other Districts: Thunderstorms, lightning, and rain are forecast for Banda, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Agra, Kanpur, and other areas.
Relief from Humidity and Heat:
The heavy rainfall is expected to reduce the stifling humidity and provide relief from the oppressive heat. Although the monsoon arrived in UP earlier than usual, a recent weakening of the weather system led to reduced rainfall. A low-pressure area over northern Madhya Pradesh previously drew moist air into UP, causing consistent showers. However, this system has now dissipated. The IMD predicts that the monsoon will regain strength from June 26, leading to moderate to heavy rainfall across the state in the coming days.
Public Advisory: Residents are advised to stay cautious due to potential waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and lightning risks. Farmers should protect crops, and travelers are urged to stay updated with IMD forecasts to ensure safety during this rainy spell.
