On June 27, strong winds of 40-50 km/hr, thunderstorms and lightning are likely in some districts of north-west and south Bihar. Thunderstorms with heavy rain may also occur at one or two places in north-central and north-east Bihar. Heavy rain is likely in West Champaran, Kishanganj, Banka, Katihar, Gaya and Nawada districts.
Status of monsoon – how far has it reached?
The northern boundary of the monsoon has reached Jammu and Kashmir via Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh. The monsoon has become fully active in Bihar due to the moisture coming from the Bay of Bengal and the cyclonic circulation formed over eastern India. Rain activities are likely to remain strong in almost all parts of the state in the coming days.

The Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of loss of life, property and animals due to heavy rains and storms in various districts of the state. Flood situation may arise due to increase in water level in areas situated on the banks of rivers, due to which local residents have been advised to remain alert. At the same time, there is a possibility of waterlogging and traffic jam in low-lying areas of urban areas.
Huts, kutcha houses and temporary structures may be damaged due to strong winds. Farmers have been advised to protect their crops during the rains and avoid spraying pesticides or fertilizers. Common people have been advised to avoid standing under electric poles and trees and take shelter in safe paved places.
