Adani Total Gas Ltd. (ATGL) and Jio-bp, the operating brand of Reliance BP Mobility Limited, have officially announced a collaboration aimed at revolutionizing the auto fuel retail landscape for consumers in India. This partnership will see select ATGL fuel stations providing Jio-bp’s high-performance petrol and diesel, while certain Jio-bp outlets will incorporate ATGL’s CNG dispensing units within their designated Geographical Areas (GA), thereby improving the availability of premium fuels for transport users.
ATGL, a joint venture between Adani and TotalEnergies, stands as a leading player in city gas distribution (CGD) in India, supplying natural gas to households, industries, and motorists. The company also offers Compressed Biogas (CBG), electric vehicle (EV) charging, and LNG for transportation. On the other hand, Jio-bp, a collaboration between Reliance Industries Limited and bp, is a prominent mobility solutions provider in India, excelling in fuel retailing and low-carbon alternatives.
Sarthak Behuria, Chairman of Jio-bp, emphasized their mutual goal of providing customers with a superior selection of high-quality fuels. He noted that this partnership enables both companies to utilize their respective strengths to enhance customer experiences. Suresh P Manglani, Executive Director and CEO of Adani Total Gas Ltd., echoed this sentiment, stating that the collaboration will allow them to optimize their infrastructure and improve offerings.
The agreement encompasses both current and future outlets of the two partners. ATGL operates around 650 CNG stations, while Jio-bp boasts a network of approximately 2000 outlets. This strategic partnership represents a significant step forward for both companies in their pursuit of sustainable growth and innovation.
ATGL is recognized as India’s foremost city gas distribution entity, authorized to supply PNG and CNG across 34 Geographical Areas, contributing significantly to the country’s efforts to increase the share of natural gas in its energy portfolio. Additionally, ATGL has a 50:50 joint venture with IOCL, known as Indian Oil-Adani Gas Private Limited (IOAGPL), which is authorized to supply PNG and CNG in 19 GAs, covering a total of 53 GAs and 125 districts nationwide. The company has also established two wholly owned subsidiaries focused on E-Mobility and Biomass, along with a joint venture for manufacturing smart gas meters.
Operating under the brand name ‘Jio-bp’, Reliance BP Mobility Limited (RBML) is a joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited and bp, specializing in fuels and mobility solutions. This partnership combines Reliance’s extensive reach across India with bp’s global expertise in high-quality fuels and low-carbon mobility solutions. Jio-bp not only markets conventional fuels but also offers advanced mobility solutions, including EV charging and compressed biogas. Their aviation brand, ‘air bp-Jio’, is a leading supplier of Aviation Turbine Fuel in India, while ‘Jio-bp Fuel4U’ leads the market in on-demand diesel delivery.
