A tragic incident unfolded in Australia’s Hunter region where a young boy lost his life in a two-vehicle crash. A Holden Barina and a Nissan Elgrand had collided at about 7:45am on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, according to police. Police also said that emergency services were called to the New England Highway, Murulla, about 20 minutes from Scone, following reports pertaining to the collision, according to media reports.

A probe was launched into the matter to ascertain the cause of the crash. A report will be compiled for the coroner. Meanwhile, the 85-year-old driver of the Barina sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene, after which he was taken to the hospital for mandatory testing, 7 News reported. In NSW, people need to undergo compulsory drug and alcohol testing for all drivers involved in fatal traffic crashes.

The 11-year-old boy was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital with critical wounds. However, later he succumbed to his injuries. The five occupants of the Elgrand received the treatment at the scene before being taken to the hospital. The two women, aged 38 and 60, a 13-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy, and a 19-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries, 7News reported.

Meanwhile in another incident that occurred on Thursday, June 26, 2025 a four-vehicle crash on Sydney's M4 motorway in Minchinbury led to traffic delays. The collision, which involved three cars and a truck, left a 65-year-old woman injured and she was hospitalized. While all lanes have reopened, investigations are underway to find out the cause of the incident.
