The Taiwanese national carried no checked baggage, only a black carry-on suitcase.

After noticing suspicious signs, customs officials inspected the passenger’s suitcase and found 12 gold bars weighing nearly two kilograms, with an estimated market value of over VND5.5 billion (US$210,000).

The gold bars were hidden inside four camera lenses.

Authorities have handed over the seized evidence and the suspect to Hanoi police for further investigation.
