The month of Sawan is going to start from July, in which Lord Shiva is worshiped. Jyotirlinga and Shivling have special significance in Hinduism, hardly people know about the real meaning. In Hinduism, the glory of Shivling has been described, while its origin has been told.

According to religious scriptures, ‘Shiva’ is a Sanskrit word, which means ‘welfare’ or ‘Upkari’. Talking about Yajurveda in the Vedas itself, Shiva has been considered as a peacemaker. ‘Shi’ means ‘destroyer of sins’, while ‘wa’ means ‘donor’. In Sanskrit, ‘Linga’ means ‘sign’. Meaning ‘Shivling’ means ‘Integrated Shiva with nature’, ie ‘symbol of the ultimate man’.
In another sense, it has been told about Shivalinga that, Shiva means auspicious and gender means Jyoti Pind. The Shivalinga represents the universe and its totality, which the Shivling himself appears, is called Swayambhu Shivling. The Shivalinga established by the Asuras is considered to be the asura gender and the Shivalinga established by the gods.
It is believed in the scriptures that there are many types of Shivling, but Shakti and Vishnu Shivling have been told. Shakti Shivling, is the Shivling that is directly situated on the ground or adjacent to the ground and under which there is no shape of damru. Talking about Vishnu Shivalinga there, the Shivling that is resting on the shape of Damru is Vishnu Shivling.
According to the rule, Shakti Shivalinga should always be worshiped and worship Vishnu Shivalinga by standing. The real meaning of Jyotirlinga is explained in the scriptures. Here Jyotirlinga is the self -proclaimed incarnation of Lord Shiva i.e. Lord Shiva is revealed as a light. These are not man -made Hotar Swayambhu incarnations, which do not know about the origin. Jyotirlinga, being self -proclaimed, has been established to maintain the welfare and motion of the universe. It is believed that Lord Shiva himself has given darshan in these places and he was born there as a light. Under the Shiva Purana, 12 Jyotirlingas across the country have been explained.
12 Jyotirlingas are mentioned in the Shiva Purana. These are 12 Jyotirlingas, where Shiva himself appeared in the gender form. His names come to Somnath, Mallikarjuna, Mahakaleshwar, Omkareshwar, Vaidyanath, Bhimashankar, Rameshwar, Nageshwar, Vishwanathji, Trimbakeshwar, Kedarnath, and Khurneshwar. According to Shivpuran, according to Shivpuran, Brahma, Maya, Jeeva, Mind, Wisdom, Ego, Akash, Air, Fire, Water and Earth have been called Jyotirlinga or Jyoti Pind. Therefore all Jyotirlinga Shakti is Shivling.
