Ravi said in the latest episode of the House of Glory Podcast, “I will not move in the 57 kg weight category, because with age it has become very troubled, so I have decided to take my weight up further.”
While the next Olympic weight category for LA Olympics 2028 is 65 kg, 28-year-old Ravi has been in competitions due to injuries over the years and has been competing in the non-Olympic 61 kg weight category.
In the podcast, Ravi also spoke about his early wrestling, his father’s sacrifice and his praise for Argentina footballer Lionel Messi.
Giving credit to his father to introduce wrestling, Ravi described his journey from a small earthen arena to the Olympic medal winner.
Ravi said, “My father was very fond of wrestling in my family. There used to be a small earthen arena near the fields, where he used to do farming and I used to play in childhood. From there I started wrestling and initially it was only for entertainment, I had no intention of adopting it as a profession. My father loved it and today I have come in this game because of this, I had come to this game.”
He then talked about his father’s dedication and said, “Compared to my parents’ sacrifice, I have not sacrificed anything in my life. Our village is 30-35 km from Chhatrasal Stadium, which is about 70-75 km on both sides. My father is coming here every morning to meet our dietary needs and do this today, there is a different thing for a one or two years. (Since 2007) continuously coming here, whether it is sunny or heavy rain, and this is the dedication and sacrifice that inspired me to win the international medal. ”
The podcast also talked about Ravi’s relationship with Aman Sehrawat, stating, “In any game, people can be rivals on mats, but outside, we are all humans, and it has always been the same. Aman is like a brother, and has always been the same.”
Ravi finished podcast in a light manner, in which he expressed his praise for footballer Lionel Messi and said to enjoy his free time with friends.
