Sir David Beckham has made his way back home after a surgical procedure, with his spouse Victoria Beckham providing an update on the former football ace this evening. The news follows earlier reports of him being hospitalised.
Victoria, aged 51, posted a snapshot this morning of David, 50, in a hospital bed, arm supported by a sling. It's been revealed that he underwent an operation for a broken wrist injury dating back over two decades from his footballing days. A few hours subsequent to her initial post, Victoria hinted at David's return from the hospital after the surgery. Tonight, she uploaded a video on her Instagram Story showing David standing in their kitchen, still donning a sling and bandage.
In the footage, David is seen surveying vegetables, including lettuce and cucumbers, as Victoria narrates off-camera: "So this weekend's vegetable content." Zooming in, she quips: "Look - he's overperforming on the cucumber front."
David appeared unamused, but Victoria goes on, exclaiming: "Look at this!" She starts to ask: "Are they all from the .."
David interjects with a playful caution: "I'm not sure you can say that, darling!" However, moments later, he's seen brandishing a cucumber with a cheeky smile. Victoria's laughter is audible as the clip concludes.
Victoria had earlier made it known that David was recuperating from an unspecified health issue. She posted a snapshot showing him in a hospital bed donning a gown and a sling. Across the photo she penned: "Get well soon Daddy."
She later posted another image that seemed to reveal a present received during his stay in hospital. The picture featured a bracelet with beads spelling out "get well soon" sending a message to her spouse.
While Victoria initially withheld specifics on why David was in hospital, it has been subsequently reported that he had wrist surgery recently.
An insider told the Mirror that David had undergone a 'secret' operation to fix a broken wrist, reportedly a lingering ailment from a friendly football game against South Africa in 2003 before he hung up his boots.
The informant remarked: "It had been giving him problems recently and so he wanted to get it fixed." They mentioned that he was expecting to leave the hospital shortly.
According to the same source, David "hoped" he would be fit enough to fly to the US in time for Inter Miami's forthcoming match. His squad is slated to play against his old team Paris Saint-Germain in a FIFA Club World Cup encounter on Sunday.
