A West Indies international cricketer - currently part of the national setup - has been accused of rape, sexual assault, harassment, and unwanted advances by at least 11 women, including his teenager cousin, according to a June 27 report by Kaieteur News in Guyana.
The cricketer, reportedly from Guyana, received a "hero’s welcome" after West Indies' historic Test win over Australia in 2024. While his name has been widely circulated on social media, he has not been officially identified, and no formal charges have been filed.
Teenager alleges rape in 2023; family accuses cover-upOne of the alleged victims was just 18 years old at the time of the assault, which reportedly occurred on March 3, 2023, at a house in New Amsterdam, Berbice. According to the victim's family, the cricketer picked her up under the pretense of "socialising" and brought her to a residence where others were present.
They also stated that she Initially felt safe - until he allegedly led her upstairs and forcibly raped her. The family has since accused the player's entourage, as well as Guyanese law enforcement, of attempting to suppress the case.
More women speak out, present evidence of abuseSince the report's publication, more women have come forward with claims of repeated abuse and cover-up attempts. Several have presented evidence, including screenshots, voice notes, medical records, and messages.
One survivor claimed the cricketer offered a financial settlement, which the family rejected. "We don't want money. I want justice for what he did to my daughter," they said.
Lawyer says prosecutors once recommended chargesProminent lawyer Nigel Hughes, who represents one of the complainants, told SportsMax TV that initial complaints were made nearly two years ago, around early 2023. He said prosecutors had recommended charges be filed following an investigation, but the case subsequently vanished from the public eye.
Hughes added that renewed inquiries on June 25 and 26, 2025, have yielded no updates from authorities. Meanwhile, the teenage survivor and others remain frustrated by ongoing delays and repeated questioning.
