Major changes in July 2025
The upcoming month July is set to bring key financial and service-related changes that will impact bank customers, train travelers and EPF members. Indian Railways has introduced Aadhaar-based authentication as a mandatory requirement for booking Tatkal train tickets online, with stricter rules rolling out in phases throughout the month. Major banks such as Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and EPFO have revised their rules related to ATM fees, service charges, and UAN activation deadlines.

Axis Bank tariff changes in July 2025

Axis Bank has changed the fees it charges for savings and trust accounts. The new fees will start to apply on July 1, 2025. The bank as revised fee for ATM transactions that exceed the free limit at both Axis and non-Axis ATMs. This change will effect a large number of account holders, including those with savings, NRI, and Trust Accounts, as well as some Priority and Burgundy category customers.

Starting July 1, 2025, the fee for financial transactions (such as cash withdrawals or balance inquiries) conducted at Axis or non-Axis ATMs beyond the free transaction limit will increase. Here’s a clear comparison:
Existing Fee: Rs 21 per transaction
Revised Fee: Rs 23 per transaction
This increase of Rs 2 per transaction applies to all financial transactions that exceed the free limit set by the bank for your account type.

Aadhaar authentication for online Tatkal train bookings

Tatkal train tickets purchased via IRCTC's official website and mobile app will only be accessible to individuals who have successfully authenticated with Aadhaar as of July 1, 2025. This means that passengers must link their Aadhaar number with their IRCTC user profile and verify it successfully to be able to book Tatkal tickets online.

Further, Aadhaar-based OTP authentication will become mandatory for Tatkal train tickets bookings made online starting 15th July 2025.

Under the new rule, authorised agents will not be allowed to book Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the booking window on the day Tatkal train tickets bookings open.

Starting July 15, 2025, all Tatkal tickets booked at computerised Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and through authorised railway agents will require an extra layer of verification through OTP (One-Time Password) authentication.


ICICI Bank revised service charges

ICICI Bank has revised its service charges for certain transactions. Customers of the bank will face revised charges across a range of banking services, including demand drafts, ATM transactions at non-ICICI Bank ATMs in both metro and non-metro cities, cash deposit and withdrawal services, and debit card fees. The updated charges will come into effect from July 1, 2025.

The government will announce interest rates on small savings schemes which will be applicable from July to September quarter.
