In a recent felicitation ceremony held by the Janapada Kala Mattu Kreeda Sangha , the founder of Kannada News Today , journalist Satish Raj Goravigere , was officially presented with the title of Best Regional News Source (Atyuttama Pradeshika Suddi Mula) awarded to the platform last month.

The recognition, conferred for the news website's consistent public-interest reporting and focus on grassroots journalism , was announced earlier but formally handed over this week in a cultural gathering attended by media professionals and local community leaders. Satish Raj received the honour on behalf of the entire editorial team.

Satish Raj Goravigere, who founded Kannada News Today in March 2019, has seen the platform grow steadily as a regional digital news source, known for its emphasis on people-centric reporting. The portal’s coverage ranges from civic issues and rural development to cultural preservation. Over the years, the platform has gained attention for its editorial integrity and ground-level stories.

Satish, who earlier received the Rajyotsava Honour 2023 and the Media Contribution of the Year Award 2024, remains a prominent voice in regional journalism. Under his leadership, the platform has expanded its editorial structure, recently appointing Satish B Gudagenatti as Senior Editor.

Gudagenatti, a former MLA candidate from Belagavi Rural in the 2018 Karnataka Assembly elections, is known for his extensive field experience and involvement in local issues. His addition to the news team is seen as a step towards strengthening Kannada News Today’s reach in northern Karnataka and beyond.

As part of its evolving direction in 2025, the platform has also collaborated with emerging media spaces and digital archives, participating in knowledge-sharing events and regional journalism summits. Satish Raj has emphasised the need to balance technological change with journalistic values, especially in an era of misinformation and digital overload.

The Janapada Kala Mattu Kreeda Sangha, which has previously honoured artists, writers and social workers, noted that the news website's reporting stands out for its effort to bring regional voices to the forefront — voices often underrepresented in national narratives.

The award serves as a quiet but meaningful acknowledgement of the team’s efforts to preserve local stories while adapting to the fast-changing digital media environment.
