SULTAN BATHERY/KOZHIKODE: The body of Poomala Chettimoola, Sultan Bathery, Wayanad native Hemachandran (53), who went missing from Kozhikode a year and a half ago, was found buried in the Cherambadi forest area of ​​Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu.
Jyotish Kumar, a native of Sultan Bathery, and Ajesh B.S., a native of Vellappana Pallavadi, were taken into custody by the police. The police said that Noushad, who is suspected to be the main accused, has gone abroad. A lookout notice will be issued. Hemachandran went missing on March 20, 2024, from a rented house at Mayanad near Kozhikode Medical College. It is believed that the murder was committed due to a financial dispute. The Tamil Nadu RDO, led by the police and forest department, completed the investigation and shifted the body to Ooty Medical College for postmortem. ACP Umesh said that it will be confirmed that the body is that of Hemachandran only after the DNA test is completed. The search was conducted by an investigation team led by Umesh. Tip from lady friend • Hemachandran and his family moved to a rented house near Mayanad in Kozhikode 20 years ago. He was a driver in the army earlier. He returned home and worked as a loan shark. He left on March 20, 2024, saying that he was going to town. His wife Subisha filed a complaint with the Medical College police on April 1. • The police found that the last person who called Hemachandran on the phone was a lady friend from Kannur. Hemachandran had gone to the Medical College area to meet her. Her statement that he had been kidnapped helped the police to reach the accused. • The police found that people associated with a financial transaction had kidnapped Hemachandran. Based on the statements of the arrested accused, the police conducted a search of a swamp within a four-kilometer radius in the Kapikad forest area near the Cherambadi-Ooty road on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. • No information was available about the murder. Police are investigating how the body was buried in the forest area, which is a haven for elephants, and whether more people helped.
