The rainy season brings relief, but also creates problems like the smell of the air conditioner (AC). The smell of AC during the rainy season is a very common problem. This is due to moisture, fungus, bacteria and lack of most important cleaning.
So let’s know why this smell comes and what are the ways to avoid it.
The main cause of smell
1. Fungus and bacteria due to increase in moisture
There is high moisture in the atmosphere in the rain. This moisture accumulates in AC’s Evaporater Coil, Drain PAN and Ducts. This causes mildew and bacteria that spread the smell.
2.
AC cleaning
If AC’s servicing has not been done for a long time, then it becomes a home of bacteria due to dust and moisture.
Especially when filter, cooling coil and drain pipes become dirty, foul smell starts.
3. Drain pipe choke
If the drain pipe that takes out the moisture of AC is jammed, then the water accumulates inside and it starts to smell by causing rot.
What to do – Easy remedy
Clean the AC filter every 10-15 days.
Place a little ventilation in the room, do not close it completely.
Use “Dry Mode” in AC or apply dehumidifier.
Do professional servicing at least twice a year.
