Mumbai: The Indian benchmark index opened flat on Monday amid positive global signals. In early trade, purchases were seen in PSU Bank and IT sector. Around 9.27 am, the Sensex was trading 1.35 points to 84,057.55, while the Nifty was 6.50 points or 0.03 percent to 25,644.30.
According to analysts, reports of positive developments on the trade front on the trade front with the possibilities of trade deals between the US-China and the US-China and the US-India are good signs for equity markets.
Dr. VK Vijaykumar, the chief investment strategist of Geojit Investment Limited, said, “In recent times, big shares like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, RIL and L&T have contributed significantly for the boom in Indian markets, which have been invested by institutions.”
In early trade, the Nifty Bank rose 15.15 points or 0.03 percent to 57,459.05. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was trading at 59,606.05 with an increase of 220.90 points or 0.37 percent. The Nifty Smallcap 100 index was up 153.35 points or 0.81 percent to 19,130.15.
Meanwhile, the Sensex pack featured M&M, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, NTPC, UltraTech Cement, HDFC Bank and UltraTech Cement Top Loosers. Whereas, Trent, SBI, L&T, Eternal, Axis Bank and Hindustan Unilever Limited were included in the list of Top Gainers.
Experts say the weakness in the dollar index is supporting FII flow and retail optimistic stance is supporting the flow in domestic funds. It is prudent to maintain investment in this bull market, but it will be risky to make new investments on high valuation.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) were pure buyers on 27 June, who bought shares worth Rs 1,397.02 crore. Meanwhile, domestic institutional investors (DII) remained seller, who sold shares worth Rs 588.93 crore.
In the Asian markets, China, Bangkok, Japan, Sol and Jakarta were trading in the green mark, while Hong Kong was trading only in the red mark. In the last trading session on Friday in US markets, Dow Jones gained 432.43 points or 1.00 percent to close at 43,819.27. The S&P 500 index closed at 6,173.07 with 32.05 points or 0.52 percent and Nasdaq closed 105.55 points or 0.52 percent to close at 20,273.46.
