This year, the date of Devshayani Ekadashi will start on 5 July 2025 at 6:58 pm and will be till 9:14 pm on 6 July. Devshayani Ekadashi, also known as Ashadhi Ekadashi, is considered very sacred and important in Hinduism. This date comes on Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashada month and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. From this day, Chaturmas (four months of holy penance period) begins, which lasts till Devothani Ekadashi.

Date of fast and worship: 6 July 2025 (according to Udaya Tithi)
Bathing and resolution: Take a holy bath in the morning and take a pledge to fast. Wear white or yellow clothes.
Kalash installation: Establish the Kalash at the place of worship and install an idol or picture of Lord Vishnu over it.
Worship Lord Vishnu with Tulsi letters, yellow flowers, fruits, milk-curd, panchamrit etc.
Light the lamp and chant the mantra “Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya”.
Fasting and fasting: Keep an excellent or fasting fast on this day. Chant Vishnu Sahasranama or other mantras at the time of Sandhya Aarti.
Sleep Puja: Install Lord Vishnu in bedroom at night and read the sleeping mantra.
Purification and Shantaman – Wear clean yellow or white clothes after bathing.
Posture – Sit east or north on the seat of Kusha or wool.
Garland – The garland of Tulsi is considered superior.
Concentration – Do chanting slow, clear and revered, do not let the mind wander.
Time – Chanting is most fruitful after Brahmamuhurta (morning) and Sandhyarti.
While installing Lord Vishnu in sleeping posture, say this resolution mantra, ‘O God, all the world in your Yoganidra remains calm, and should be filled with consciousness again on awakening. Our life is also moving forward uninterrupted by your grace.
Devilakshmi remains seated with Lord Vishnu. Therefore, by chanting ‘Om Shree Mahalakshmai Namah’ with these mantras, wealth and prosperity remains permanent in the house.
