The days of old vehicles in Delhi are now over. End-off-LIFE in the capital from 1 July (Eol) Strict action is being started against vehicles. Under the new orders of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), such vehicles found at public places and petrol pumps will be confiscated and fined will also have to be paid.
According to CAQM, petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years fall under the category of EOL. Such vehicles will no longer get fuel from any petrol pump in Delhi. If these vehicles are found to be parked in a public place, they will be confiscated.
AnPR (Automated Number Plate Recognition) cameras have been installed at more than 500 fuel stations in the capital. As soon as a vehicle comes to the pump, the camera will scan its number plate and the information will be mixed with the Vahan database immediately. If the vehicle comes out, the system will alert and the petrol pump staff will not fill the fuel in that vehicle.
Along with this, vehicle owners will have to give in writing that they will not use or parking in any public place.
If an EOL vehicle is found in a public place, the enforcement agencies will seize it and send it to the registered vehicle scrapping facility (RVSF). If the owner wants to take the vehicle out of Delhi, it will be mandatory to take NOC.

After Delhi, the same system will be applicable from November 1 in Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar and Sonipat. AnPR cameras will also be installed in these districts by 31 October.
According to CAQM data, Delhi has 62 lakh EOL vehicles, of which 41 lakh are two -wheelers. At the same time, their number in NCR districts is about 44 lakhs. This rule will be fully implemented from 1 April 2026 throughout NCR.
