Manchester United are set to wave goodbye to a host of players today as their contracts come to an end. The Red Devils are in the midst of reshaping their squad in the summer transfer window, preparing for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign. Matheus Cunha has already been secured by United, and talks are ongoing to bring Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen who else United will chase before the transfer window closes on September 1. However, when it comes to exits, at least nine players are guaranteed to depart this summer. United have confirmed that Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen will all leave when their contracts expire on 30 June, with Evans retiring from playing and taking up the role of Head of Loans and Pathways for the club's academy.
The trio will leave Old Trafford as free agents and will be free to sign with a new club from Tuesday (July 1). Tom Heaton was also potentially leaving United this summer as his original contract was due to expire.
However, earlier this month it was announced that the experienced goalkeeper has signed a one-year extension to stay at United for another season.
As part of their retained list, United also revealed that six academy stars would be leaving the club. Hubert Graczyk, Jack Kingdon, Sam Murray, Tom Myles, James Nolan and Tom Wooster will all depart when their contracts end by close of play on Monday.
United have also revealed that a new contract has been offered to Ashton Missin in an attempt to extend his stay at the club. If no agreement is reached, the young forward will leave once his current contract runs out.
In other news, Brentford have turned down Manchester United's latest offer of up to £62.5million for Mbeumo. United are keen to sign the 25-year-old forward, having already secured the services of Matheus Cunha earlier this month.
The Brazilian international was signed from Wolves in a deal worth £62.5m, which matches the amount of United's most recent bid for Mbeumo when add-ons were factored in.
However, it's understood that Brentford have rejected this approach, just as they did a previous offer of up to £55m, and negotiations continue over a move that the player is believed to be keen on.
Spurs, now under the management of Mbeumo's former Bees boss Thomas Frank, are also showing interest in the Cameroon international. The forward's contract with Brentford is set to expire next summer, although there is an option to extend it by another year.
