ITV's beloved soap Emmerdale returned to screens with viewers casting their predictions about the drama following the arrival of newcomer Celia Daniels (played by Jaye Griffiths). After introducing herself to Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb), she went on to use Moira's desperation for money and offered to rent her two neighbouring farms for £500 a month.
Hinting at rising tensions between the two, Moira declined Celia's seemingly brazen offer. This sparked a frenzy among viewers who quickly took to social media to predict, the newcomer could be trouble for the villagers. One wrote: "Welcome, Celia looks like she's going to be causing a bit of trouble as well as being feisty. I think she's going to be a good character addition, and I like her already." As another echoed: "Newbie Celia is going to be trouble ... She has the air of the old Kim about her."
A third predicted: "So Celia is just another troublemaker," as a fourth anticipated: "Maybe Celia will be the 1 who ends up sussing out John!"
One fan wrote: "Looks like Celia is going to be yet another nasty piece of work," while another fumed: "Who the hell does this Celia think she is swanning into Moira's farm like she's an Aussie drover."
The episode also revealed that Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) was already familiar with Celia as the two shared a tense conversation when they came face-to-face.
The vet, who was joined by his dad, Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards), also hinted that she was trouble as Paddy commented that his dad "didn't want to know who she is."
However, disaster soon struck for Paddy after he spotted a sheep stuck in a fence on Celia's farm, and immediately headed over to help.
After helping the animal free, he was approached by Celia's vicious guard dog attacked him and terrifyingly bit into his arm while he called frantically for help.
Bear, who was waiting in the car when the ordeal took place, rushed over to save his son and called an ambulance.
Paddy's wife, Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley), rushed to the hospital, but Paddy was in theatre as he needed an emergency operation and a blood transfusion.
In an emotional scene, Paddy thanked his dad for saving his life and later described Celia as "not nice"
Although it's yet to be seen how the newcomer will receive the police interrogation, there could be more tension ahead as the actress made an appearance on Lorraine and hinted: "She's fierce and complex, shall we say," suggesting that Celia could "shake things up" in the village.
