Indian Railways has increased the fare of passenger trains after a long time. This hike is going to be implemented from July 1. Till now, when the railway fare increased, the TT used to charge the increased fare from the passengers who took tickets at the old rates during the journey.

In such a situation, it is natural for the question to arise in the minds of the railway passengers that will they have to pay the difference of the increased fare to the TT during the journey this time too? The Railway Ministry has answered this.

What did the Railways say?

The Railway Ministry said in its notification that even if a passenger has a ticket taken on the old fare, the increased fare will not be charged to him. However, if the TT makes a new ticket during the journey, it will be made based on the new fare.

Lowest increase in 12 years

Railways has announced an increase in the fares of AC, non-AC, and second-class coaches after five years. Earlier, the Railways had changed the prices in the year 2020. This is the lowest increase by the Railways in the last 12 years.

How much will the price increase?

Second Class- The railway ticket of this coach has been increased by half a paisa per kilometer.

Non AC or Sleep Class- Its ticket has been increased by 1 paisa per kilometer.

AC Class- There will be an increase of 2 paise per kilometer.

No change in MST and Suburban

It is worth noting that the railways will not make any change in the price of MSTs and Suburban Trains. The Railway Ministry has said that there will be no extra fare for up to 500 kilometers in ordinary trains. This discount will not be applicable on Mail, Express, and other premium trains.
