Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian Test opening batter, will keep playing for Mumbai in domestic matches. This follows the state cricket board’s approval on Monday to drop his earlier request for a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

In April, Jaiswal, age 23, surprised many people when he asked the MCA for an NOC to play for another state. The MCA initially agreed to his request. Jaiswal was planning to go to Goa and even become their captain in domestic games. But in May, Jaiswal asked the MCA to withdraw his NOC request.

On Monday, the MCA’s top council approved Jaiswal’s request to withdraw the NOC. The MCA stated, The Apex Council has approved the withdrawal of the No Objection Certificate (NOC) that Yashasvi Jaiswal had requested to play for another state. He will still be available for Mumbai.

MCA president Ajinkya Naik said, “Yashasvi has always been a product of Mumbai cricket that we are proud of. We have accepted Jaiswal’s withdrawal NOC application, and he will be available for Mumbai in the coming domestic season.”

In his May letter to the MCA, Jaiswal wrote, “I am writing to request that you consider my request to withdraw my NOC. I had family plans to move to Goa, but those plans have been put on hold for now. Therefore, I sincerely request that MCA allow me to play for Mumbai this season! I have not given the NOC to BCCI or the Goa Cricket Association!”

Recently, Prithvi Shaw, another India player from Mumbai, asked the MCA for permission to move to another state, and his request was approved.

In other news, the MCA announced that the Dr HD Kanga League, a popular monsoon season competition, will be held starting on July 20.

MCA secretary Abhay Hadap said, “The Kanga League is more than just a competition; it’s a tradition that embodies the spirit of Mumbai cricket. We’re happy to bring back the original format and anticipate a thrilling season of great monsoon cricket.”

The top council also made the decision to form a cricket committee for differently-abled players.
