However what happens behind the scenes when the curtain falls is a lot more than what meets the eye. One such tale is of a legendary singer whose golden voice enchanted the audience for many years. He gave his voice to almost 91 films of Rajesh Khanna. However besides his successful professional life he was struggling in his personal life. He saw a lot of challenges in his married life. 3 of his marriages failed leaving him feeling unfulfilled in love. Kishore Kumars First Marriage Kishore Kumar first got married at the age of just 21 to Ruma Ghosh. She was a Bengali actor and singer. However after a few years of their marriage the duo started having disputes over Rumas career. She wanted to pursue her singing career whereas Kishore Kumar wanted her to leave her ambitions and become a homemaker. Their mindsets didnt align and eventually both of them ended up getting divorced. Their marriage lasted from 1950 to 1958. Madhubala Became the Second Wife A few years later in 1960 Kishore Kumar met Madhubala and fell for her. However their marriage was also short-lived. Not because any of them fell out of love but because fate had some other plans. Madhubala was going through a health condition; she had a hole in her heart and the doctors had said that she had only 2 years to live. However Madhubala survived on her will for 9 years. It was believed that Kishore Kumar stayed distant because of his work but he still bore her medical expenses. On February 23rd 1969 Madhubala took her last breath and with that their love story also ended. Yogita Bali - Third Wife After this Yogita Bali entered Kishore Kumars life. Their marriage only lasted for two years. From 1976 to 1978. According to Kishore their marriage was a joke for Yogita. I don’t think she was serious about marriage. She was only obsessed with her mother. She never wanted to live here” Kishore Kumar once said. Later Yoga married Mithun Chakraborty which caused a rift between the singer and actor and reportedly Kishore refused to sign any song further for Mithun. Kishore Kumars Last Marriage Lastly Kishores fourth marriage sustained till the end of his life. Kishores 4th and last marriage was with Leena Chandravarkar. The duo also has a son Summet Kumar. Kishore described Leena as a different person. He once said “She too is an actress like all of them but she’s very different. She’s seen tragedy. She’s faced grief. When your husband is shot dead you change. You understand life. You realise the ephemeral quality of all things. I am happy now”. Leena was previously married to Siddharth Bandodkar who died a few days after their wedding in an accidental gunshot. Kishore Kumar died at the age of 58 on 13th October 1987 due to cardiac arrest.
