Shefali Jariwala—the unforgettable Kaanta Laga girl who set the early 2000s ablaze with her edgy dance moves and fierce screen presence—has left the entertainment world in collective mourning. At just 42 Shefali passed away on June 27 2025 in her Mumbai residence reportedly following a sudden cardiac arrest. Her final rites were performed the next day by her husband actor Parag Tyagi at the Oshiwara crematorium. But what’s capturing hearts now is a quiet emotional flashback—recalled not by a co-star but by someone from her past who once held her hand through life. Harmeet Singh recalls his last conversation with Shefali Jariwala Harmeet Singh one half of the music duo Meet Bros and Shefali’s ex-husband opened up about their final long conversation in a deeply personal moment with journalist Vickey Lalwani. “I remember going to Bangladesh for a show about two to three years ago. Sunny Leone Shefali and I flew back together in a private plane. Shefali and I sat next to each other and spoke for quite a long time… The fact that Shefali is no more is shattering.” Their marriage once marred by turmoil and emotional tension had found an odd peace in later years. That flight turned out to be the last time the former couple spoke heart-to-heart—both perhaps unaware that it would be their final real exchange. Currently in Europe Harmeet couldn’t attend Shefali’s last rites. However his grief found words on Instagram where he shared a heart-wrenching message One of the most shocking moments of my life. Im absolutely shattered... We shared a few beautiful years together... Its painful for me not to be there for the last rites... Gone far too soon... He offered condolences to Shefali’s parents sister and husband ending his note with “Jai Shree Krishna.” Shefali’s last Kaanta Laga performance Only three weeks before her passing Shefali performed Kaanta Laga one last time at an event in Mumbai’s Taj Hotel. Unbeknownst to all that spontaneous performance would become a parting gift to fans who had long cherished her for that very number. The moment wasn’t just a dance. It was a nostalgic encore. In a podcast with Bigg Boss 13 co-contestant Paras Chhabra Shefali had said “I want to be remembered as the Kaanta Laga girl till the day I die.”
