Arsenal appear to have expanded their search for a new winger. Noni Madueke has recently emerged as a potential target for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options this summer.

The Chelsea ace, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires in June 2030, featured 32 times in the Premier League last season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists. Playing a key role in Enzo Maresca's side, he helped the Blues finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League.

Despite having not found the net in the English top-flight since January, the England international still managed to attract interest from Emirates Stadium. According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal have opened talks to sign Madueke.

The report claims that the Gunners have already made the 23-year-old an offer. It's said that he's one of several players that the north Londoners are assessing as Arteta looks to draft cover for Bukayo Saka.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal have shortlisted Madueke, but no bid or proposal has been submitted yet, while talkSPORT report that no 'firm' offer has been made. Plettenberg adds that the Gunners are also still weighing up a move for Rodrygo, but that depends on the player wanting to leave Real Madrid.

The Real star currently faces an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu as he seeks assurances from Xabi Alonso about his game time. Upon the former Liverpool midfielder's unveiling as the new Los Blancos manager, he ruled out Rodrygo's departure.

Alonso said: "He's a Madrid player and I will have a conversation with everyone because we need to do so. We'll get to know each other. He's a spectacular player and we need him."

Despite claiming that the Brazil international was in his plans, Alonso only gave him 88 minutes to impress during the group stages of the Club World Cup. football.london understands that Arsenal are interested in Rodrygo, but any move for the 24-year-old winger would be complicated.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the Gunners' final game of the season, Arteta was asked about Rodrygo. The Spaniard said: "I wouldn’t like to name a player.

"But the biggest thing is that, and using the word pride, we have brought the club into a position, into a place that next season you have to win a major trophy.

"That means that everybody believes that we have the level, that we have shown the consistency, and we are an elite team in this country and in Europe and if you don't do that, then what is going to happen?

"For me that is the biggest statement, that Arsenal is there..."

In the same press conference, Arteta also called on Andrea Berta to 'add goals and creativity' to his squad. The Spaniard said: "What is clear with the amount of injuries we had in the frontline is that we need a goal threat.

"We need the firepower out there. We cannot rely just on the numbers we had before. We have to add goals, we have to add creativity, and we have to add numbers, and that will be in different positions."
