Bihar Election 2025: A deep revision program of voter lists has started from the assembly elections to be held in Bihar. Under this, the booth level officer will go home and fill the calculation forms of the people. The intensive revision program started from 25 June will run till 26 July. After this, the final voter list will be published on 30 September. Opposition parties are questioning the revision program being conducted by the Election Commission. Now the Election Commission has given clarification on this.

The Election Commission said that Bihar is the first state in the country, where a special intensive revision campaign of the voter list is being carried out. Currently, there are 7 crore 89 lakh 69 thousand 844 voters in Bihar. The previous campaign took place in 2002, the final list was published on 1 January 2003. Then 4 crore 69 lakh voters were involved in it.

The Election Commission also says that voters registered in the 2003 list will only have to fill the calculation form for confirmation of entries. If one of the parents or both of them are in the 2003 list, then they will not need to present any documents to add the name. This form is only to be filled by those whose name is recorded in the list of 24 June 2024. It was also clarified by the Election Commission as to why the intensive revision program has been started.

According to the Commission, this campaign is required due to reasons such as urbanization, migration, becoming voters of youth, not reporting deaths and involvement of illegal migrants. This will prepare an errorless voter list, which will have the names of all qualified citizens and the names of unqualified persons will be removed. This process will be under Article 326 of the Constitution and Section 16 of the Representation of the Public Representation Act, 1950.
