Queen Elizabeth was said to be "dismayed" by Prince Harry after he made one particular move ahead of his wedding to Meghan Markle, a royal author has claimed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex married on May 19, 2018, in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Harry and Meghan's wedding service was conducted by the then-Dean of Windsor, David Conner, while their legal marriage ceremony was performed by the then-Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. Now, according to a royal author, one of Queen Elizabeth's close confidantes claimed that the Duke had first asked the then-Archbishop of Canterbury to perform the wedding service without consulting the Dean of Windsor, which left the late monarch "dismayed".

Lady Elizabeth Anson, the former wife of Sir Geoffrey Shakerley, was a first cousin once removed of the late Queen.

Born in Windsor Castle, Lady Elizabeth was the late Queen Mother's great-niece and also King George VI's goddaughter.

Liza, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was known for being a high-society party planner and was one of Elizabeth's closest confidantes later in life.

The aristocrat died nearly five years ago, just two years before Elizabeth's death in 2022, but now a royal author has shared various glimpses into what the late monarch had confided in her regarding life within the Royal Family, including her views on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Sally Bedell Smith published various conversations with Lady Elizabeth on her Substack 'Royal Extras'.

According to the Mail, which has seen the full story, Lady Elizabeth said the late Queen was "not at all content" with how things were going before the Sussexes' wedding.

Ms Bedell Smith wrote that Liza said: "When I spoke with the Queen, she said she is not at all content.'

"According to Liza, the Queen was dismayed that Harry had asked the Archbishop of Canterbury to perform the wedding service in St. George's Chapel without first requesting permission from the Dean of Windsor.

"'Harry seems to think the Queen can do what she wants, but she can't,' said Liza. 'On the religious side, it is the Dean of Windsor's jurisdiction.' As a result, Liza said that 'Harry has blown his relationship with his grandmother.

"She said she was really upset. I was shocked when the [late] Queen told me this, how she was so saddened. I had no idea about the conversation, that he was rude to her for ten minutes.

"'They had tea with her the day before yesterday. She was trying to find out about the wedding dress, and Meghan wouldn't tell her.'"

The aristocrat also claimed that towards the end of April, shortly before the Sussex wedding, the late monarch and the Duke had "patched things up".
