Pakistani celebs unbanned in India

After a series of bans on Pakistani actors’ and actresses’ social media accounts in India, some of the restrictions have now been quietly lifted. The situation began in late April when the Indian government blamed Pakistan for an attack in Pahalgam, a region in Indian-occupied Kashmir. In response, India launched several anti-Pakistan actions, including censoring digital content.

Disturbed by the rising popularity of Pakistani dramas and artists, Indian authorities blocked several major Pakistani YouTube entertainment channels. The next step was to restrict access to Pakistani celebrities by banning their social media accounts within India. Users attempting to view these accounts would see a message saying the content was unavailable due to a legal request.

Many prominent Pakistani figures, including actors, cricketers, and other well-known personalities, were affected by these bans. However, Indian social media users recently noticed posts from some Pakistani celebrities reappearing on their timelines. This led to the discovery that accounts of some stars were accessible again without using VPNs, suggesting that the ban had been lifted without any official announcement.

Celebrities whose accounts have become accessible again include Danish Taimoor, Ahad Raza Mir, Mawra Hocane, and Yumna Zaidi. The return of these profiles has sparked discussions online, though Indian authorities have not released any statement confirming the removal of the restrictions.

Despite this development, the accounts of several other stars—such as Mahira Khan, Wahaj Ali, Fawad Khan, Iqra Aziz, Farhan Saeed, and Hania Aamir—remain blocked in India.
