Overview:

England have won the toss and elected to bowl first against India. Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur and Sai Sudharsan are not playing the second Test.

England captain Ben Stokes has won the toss and elected to bowl first against India in the second Test at Edgbaston.”We’re opting to bowl as the overhead conditions favour it. Last week’s team performance was excellent, and we’re feeling confident. The more you play, the better you understand the conditions in a Test match. The combination of me, Brains, and Baz isn’t something you’d usually see. It was a fantastic run chase and a strong start to the series,” Ben Stokes said.

India skipper Shubman Gill would have bowled first as well. “We would’ve bowled first too. If there’s any help in the wicket, it’s on the first day. We’ve made three changes – Reddy, Washi, and Akash Deep come in. Bumrah isn’t playing due to workload management. With the third Test being at Lord’s, we expect more in that pitch, so we’ll bring him in for that. We considered playing Kuldeep but chose to add more depth to the batting instead,” Shubman Gill said.

India XI: Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Kl Rahul, Karun Nair, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, PRASIDH Krishna.

England XI: Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Shoaib Bashir, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue.
