Ballard is set to be Prime Video's next major crime drama, with fans keen to learn all they can about the forthcoming book adaptation.

The third and concluding series of Botch: Legacy was released earlier this year, featuring Detective Renee Ballard (portrayed by Maggie Q) assisting Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) on a particularly intricate case.

Now, Ballard is set to star in her own show, based on the works of author Michael Connelly, who also penned the Bosch and The Lincoln Lawyer book series.

There are only a few days left until Ballard premieres, with the Bosch spin-off set to debut on Wednesday, July 9, on Prime Video.

Heading up the cast as Detective Renee Ballard is actress Maggie Q, renowned for her roles as Hannah Wells in Designated Survivor and the eponymous character in Nikita.

She is joined by John Carroll Lynch, known for his roles in Fargo and The Founder, who plays Ballard's retired former police partner Thomas Laffont.

Additionally, Ozark's Michael Mosley portrays reserve LAPD officer Ted Rawls, with The Client List's Rebecca Field as volunteer Colleen, Plan B's Victoria Moroles as legal intern Martina, and Amy Hill from 50 First Dates as the detective's grandmother Tutu.

It's already been confirmed that Titus Welliver, known for his role in Bosch, will be returning to the screen for Ballard.

Ballard is charged with heading up the LAPD's newly formed but under-resourced cold case division, following a forced hiatus from the homicide division.

She delves into a myriad of complex, unresolved crimes, including a series of serial murders and an unidentified deceased male.

With assistance from her team of volunteers and a familiar face in Bosch, Ballard manages to crack these cases.

In addition to her professional duties, Ballard grapples with personal issues that initially led to her departure from the homicide division.

Ballard premieres on Wednesday, July 9, on Prime Video.
