Most affected in eastern Rajasthan
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that heavy to very heavy rains will be seen in many areas of Rajasthan on July 3, 4 and 5. Its maximum impact will be in eastern Rajasthan, where light to moderate and sometimes heavy rains are expected to continue for the next one week. Very heavy rains (more than 20 cm) may also occur at some places, especially in the Ghat areas of eastern Rajasthan and central Maharashtra.
There is a possibility of rain in western Rajasthan as well
Light to moderate rain with thundershowers may be recorded in some parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions of western Rajasthan for the next three-four days. There is also a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in these areas. With the activation of the monsoon trough line, heavy rain is expected once again in entire Rajasthan.
Alert issued in these districts
The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for many districts. Heavy rain warning has been issued at some places in Jaipur, Nagaur, Tonk, Bundi, Bhilwara and Jodhpur districts. Apart from this, yellow alert has been issued in about 20 districts including Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur city, Dausa, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Baran, Jhalawar, where moderate rain is expected.
Appeal to people to be cautious
Due to heavy rains in the recent past, flood-like conditions have arisen in many districts of Rajasthan. In view of this, the Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to remain alert. The department estimates that this rain between 2 and 5 July may cause damage in some areas. The local administration and civil organizations have also been advised to be prepared to deal with any emergency.
