Akhilesh Yadav's Strong Critique of School Mergers

On Thursday, Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, launched a fierce critique against the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government, alleging that there is a sinister plot behind the merger of government schools in rural areas. Citing a media report, Yadav expressed on social media that education is the cornerstone of development. He raised concerns that the current neglect of education and teachers by the BJP government suggests a deeper conspiracy to deprive future generations of their 'right to education.'

Yadav asserted that educated individuals tend to be more positive and tolerant, and such people are unlikely to accept the negative politics of the BJP. He emphasized that education fosters awareness, enabling individuals to unite against oppression and exploitation. With a sarcastic tone, he remarked that the confidence gained through education is a reason for opposing dominant parties like the BJP, which is why they aim to eliminate schools and, consequently, opposition to their rule. He warned that as schools close in villages, BJP affiliates might soon arrive under the guise of service to establish their own institutions, sowing seeds of divisive ideology.

Yadav further stated that the BJP desires an uneducated and scientifically illiterate populace that applauds its authoritarian mindset. He argued that a truly educated and socially conscious individual would never support the BJP's ideology. The more education spreads, the weaker the roots of BJP politics will become.

He concluded by stating that when something is out of sight, it is also out of mind. If schools are not visible in the vicinity, the very essence of educational inspiration will vanish. He questioned why a polling booth can be established for one voter, yet schools cannot be maintained for thirty children. This, he argued, is a significant conspiracy to further marginalize the already disadvantaged communities. According to sources, the government led by Yogi Adityanath has decided to merge schools to rationalize educational resources and address issues such as low enrollment, teacher shortages, and redundant infrastructure.
