This tech company is ready to trim once again, threatened the job of 9,100 employees

IT sector legendary Microsoft has once again decided to lay off a large number of employees. According to the report of Seattle Times, the company is going to remove 4% of its total workforce i.e. about 9,100 employees. After 2023, it is believed to be the biggest pruning of Microsoft. The main reasons behind this move are – economic uncertainty, cost cutting and improving operational efficiency. The trend of this type of layoffs in many US tech companies is increasing rapidly.

6,000 employees were trimmed in May also

This is not the first time Microsoft has removed the employees on such a large scale. In May 2025, the company also showed the way out 6,000 employees. A few weeks later, in early June, more than 300 employees were also lost. According to Bloomberg’s report, the notice given to Washington State was informed about these pilts.

The most impact on sales and marketing team

This time the impact of the sorting is not only on the engineering or development team, but on the sales and marketing teams. As of June 2024, more than 45,000 employees were employed in Microsoft’s sales and marketing units.

The company had indicated in April 2025 itself that it would now do software sales work for small and medium level businesses (SMBS) through third-party agencies. “The company is now adopting a strategy to hand over the roles to customers to external agencies.”

However, Microsoft has not yet given any official response to this latest trimming. But industry experts believe that this decision is part of the company’s cost cut and long -term strategy.
