Kerala Woman Kills 2 Newborns; Lover Walks Into Police Station With Bag Containing Skeletal Remains

Kerala Police on Sunday arrested a 23-year-old woman, Aneesha, for allegedly killing her two newborn babies, both born from her relationship with a man. Her 25-year-old partner, Bavin, who fathered the children on separate occasions, was also arrested. The unmarried couple, who were in a relationship, were taken into custody the same day.
The shocking incident came to light after Bavin walked into the Pudukad police station carrying a bag that he claimed contained the skeletal remains of two babies.
Police said Bavin was intoxicated when he arrived at the station at 12.30 am on Sunday and stated that the babies had died in separate incidents. Following this, the police launched an investigation and soon took the woman into custody.
During the initial interrogation, the woman reportedly told officers that her first baby had died naturally in 2022 after the umbilical cord had wrapped around its neck during birth. However, she later confessed that the baby had been suffocated shortly after being born, and the body was buried in a plot near her house.
Eight months later, she allegedly dug up the remains and handed them over to Bavin for rituals. Bavin, who also failed to provide necessary treatment and care for the unborn baby and concealed the killing, has been named as a co-accused in the case. Police added that Aneesha has also confessed to killing the second baby, born from their relationship in 2024.
She allegedly confessed to suffocating the newborn after it began to cry and then handed the body over to Bavin, who buried it. Preliminary forensic tests have confirmed that the recovered remains belong to two infants. Aneesha and Bavin reportedly met on Facebook in 2020 and soon began a relationship.
Police are also investigating whether the woman's family was aware of both pregnancies and the births. The case came to light following tensions between the couple, including suspicions that the woman might marry someone else and concerns Bavin had over a second mobile phone he discovered in her possession. It was after this that Bavin approached the police with the remains, bringing the case into the open.
