Bengaluru: Actress, dancer, and political figure Bhavana Ramanna has revealed that she is six months pregnant and expecting twins through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF). The 40-year-old announced the news via a heartfelt Facebook post, sharing her journey to motherhood as an unmarried woman.

Bhavana said she always enjoyed being around children and grew up in a large family. Although the thought of becoming a mother was not a priority in her 20s and 30s, she felt a strong desire to experience motherhood after turning 40.

Sharing her experience, she said that when she began reaching out to fertility clinics, many doctors refused to treat her after learning she was unmarried. However, she eventually found a clinic near her home where she was welcomed and supported.

Bhavana said, “I walked in, selected a donor, and began treatment. I am lucky that the treatment was successful in the first attempt. My doctor supported me every step of the way.”

She added that her father was informed and was happy about her decision. Bhavana also mentioned that her late mother would have been delighted to hear the news.

The actress stated that she chose to speak publicly about her pregnancy in hopes of encouraging other women who may face similar challenges. “If my story helps even one woman feel less lonely, I consider that a victory,” she said.

She thanked Dr Sushma, who provided her with medical care during the IVF process.

Bhavana also highlighted the social challenges faced by single mothers, citing a recent incident where one of her friends was denied a rental home because she was a single parent. She said such discrimination must end.
