DRS drama at Edgbaston, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s late review sparks confrontation between Ben Stokes and Umpire

New Delhi: England skipper Ben Stokes looked agitated when Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal chose to review an LBW decision in the second innings of the Edgbaston Test taking a review on Day 3. On-field umpire Sharfuddoula gave Jaiswal out as he was hit in front by Josh Tongue. The decision seen the left hander consult KL Rahul in an instant decision to review.
It reached about 15 seconds and went down to zero when Jaiswal opted to call the decision and referred to the third umpire. But Ben Stokes did not like the fact that the on field officials accepted the challenge issued by Jaiswal by claiming that the timer was undoubtedly out.

He and the umpires debated on the option quite a long time. When the captain of England got heated up Rahul too came to his rescue attempting to calm him down. All round the ground there were boos but the review was accepted after a bit. But the replays were three reds and Jaiswal had to make a journey back to the hut scoring 28 runs on 22 balls.
This occurred during the eighth over on the fourth ball. On the second delivery Tongue was struck out on four. But he adapted his length and the wicket of Jaiswal happened.
Tongue bowled around the wicket and slanted it in the ball nipped in at a fullish length and Jaiswal missed it on the drive as it brushed his bat and looped up to be caught. The ball struck the front pad and replay depicted that the ball was striking the top of the leg stump.
Earlier India gained a significant lead of 180 runs after Mohammed Sirajs six -wicket haul guided India bundle out England for 407.
Siraj lead Indias pace-attack
Harry Brook and Jamie Smith added 303 runs in the sixth wicket on behalf of England to prevent them being forced to follow on and score a total of 407 runs on the board. The hosts had six batters to be dismissed as ducks yet they still surpassed the 400-run figure.
Jamie Smith registered the highest score by an England wicketkeeper-batter as remained unbeaten on 184.
The second brand new ball worked to India with Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep dismissing the tail in no time in the last session on Day 3. Siraj got six scalps and Akash Deep took four.
India then finished the third day with KL Rahul and Karun Nair unbeaten on 28 and 7 respectively at the score of 64/1 after the second innings. The visitors have taken the lead up to 244 runs.
