What kind of disease is rabies (rabies)

How does rabies spread?

Infected animal bites such as dogs, cats, monkeys, bats etc. The virus can enter the body even if the saliva of the infected animal is applied on a cut or scratch. Infected saliva on the mouth, eye or nose membranes can also spread infection.

What are the symptoms of rabies?

Symptoms of rabies are usually seen 1 to 3 months after the bite, but sometimes it can also be seen in a few days. Some initial symptoms are seen - fever and fatigue, headache, burning sensation, pain or tingling at a chopped place.

Severe symptoms (when the disease increases)-

Hydrophobia: Aerophobia discomfort and mental confusion excessive saliva and difficulty in speaking epileptic seizures paralysis.

How to prevent rabies?

Get pets regular vaccinated. Keep distance from stray animals do not tease them. Teach children to stay away from unknown animals.

Do immediately after cutting:

Wash the wound with soap and water immediately for 15 minutes.

Apply antiseptic (eg povidone iodine).

Contact the doctor immediately and start installing Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV).

In some cases rabies immunoglobulin (RIG) is also given.

The sooner the vaccine is taken after cutting, the more effective it will be.
