New Delhi: India’s sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi scripted history on Saturday by smashing the fastest century in youth ODIs. He achieved the landmark in the fourth Youth ODI against England in Worcester on July 5.

Adding yet another feather to his cap, Suryavanshi reached to his remarkable hundred in just 52 deliveries and went on the way to end up scoring 143 useful runs for his side in just 78 balls. The 14-year-old’s majestic ton has earned him the title of the fastest century getter in the format.

His sensational innings comprised 13 boundaries and 10 massive sixes as he wrecked havoc on the English side helping India set up a big total in the 50-over game. With this milestone, Suryavanshi surpassed the record of Sarfaraz Khan who had achieved the ton at 15 years in an U-19 match in 2013.

Globally, the rising Indian sensation overtook Najmul Hossain Shanto’s record of scoring a ton at 14 years and 241 days. Meanwhile, Suryavanshi’s 143-run knock and Vihaan Malhotra’s 129-run innings propelled Indian u-19 to a massive first innings score of 363 runs. Rest of the batters were unable to contribute in the match and their efforts could not be questioned as these two players did the bulk of the scoring.

Vihaaan smashed 15 boundaries and 3 massive sixes in his knock putting on a 219-run stand for the second wicket with Suryavanshi before he fell to Ben Mayes. England have been left with a dauting task of chasing a humungous target in which they will have to showcase their best performance.

Suryavanshi, on the other hand, has been on a roll and continued his impressive performance on Saturday as well.
