On Monday, Telangana's Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged Congress leaders and party workers to ramp up their efforts to secure a second consecutive term in the upcoming 2029 assembly elections. Speaking at an extended executive meeting of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) held at Gandhi Bhavan, Reddy expressed confidence that Congress would govern the state for the next decade. Addressing party officials and grassroots leaders, he emphasized the significance of political positions within the party, stating that they not only bring respect but also serve as a platform for development.
Reddy noted that many young leaders from the Youth Congress, NSUI, and district-level party wings have already been entrusted with responsibilities in the current government, with more opportunities to come in the future. He highlighted that Telangana has set a precedent for the rest of the country by compelling the central government to conduct a caste census. He mentioned that upcoming events such as the delimitation of assembly and parliamentary constituencies, women's reservation, and the potential implementation of 'One Nation, One Election' will reshape the political landscape in the coming years.
Reddy stated that the 2029 elections would serve as a significant platform for new leadership, urging everyone to begin preparations now and work towards becoming strong and effective leaders. He encouraged party workers to focus on grassroots outreach by visiting villages and ensuring that the benefits of government welfare schemes reach every household.
He asserted that the Congress government has delivered clear results in education and employment in a short span of time, stressing that coordinated efforts between the government and the party will be crucial for remaining in power. Reddy praised AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, describing him as an inspiration for party workers nationwide due to his consistent electoral successes. He assured that Congress would reward dedication by assigning appropriate roles, recalling that during his tenure as TPCC president, he had built a membership of 4.5 million active members.
