Bhopal: A shocking picture of corruption in government schools has come out from Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh. A bill of more than 1.7 lakh was made by showing fake attendance of 168 laborers and 65 Egyptians for painting of 4 liters of paint here. At the same time, 2.3 lakh rupees were withdrawn for fitting of 20 liters of oil paint, some windows and doors in another school. The administration has ordered an inquiry after the bill went viral on social media.
This scam has come to light in the schools of village Sakandi and Nipania of Beauhari development block of Shahdol. According to government records, 168 laborers and 65 mistry were found in the paint of 4 liters of paint in Sakandi School, for which 1,06,984 was paid. At the same time, 275 laborers and 150 mistry 20 liters of oil paint, 10 windows and 4 doors were installed in Nipania School, and an amount of 2,31,685 was approved. Both works are done under ‘Maintenance Fund’.
Bill first, work later! Principal in the circle of questions
The bill of Nipania School has been imposed in the name of Sudhakar Construction (Village Odari, Tehsil Beauhari), which was verified by the principal on 4 April 2025, while the contractor made the bill on 5 May 2025. That is, a month before the bill, the principal confirmed the work, which makes the whole matter suspicious.
SDM Narendra Singh Dhurve said that the work in the school is incomplete and low quality. He has ordered all the documents for investigation and has asked for strict action against the culprits. At the same time, District Education Officer Phool Singh Marpachi has also assured the investigation.
Question raised from scam, why not improve the condition of rural schools
The matter has once again raised the question that when the central and state governments are spending crores, then why is the condition of rural schools not being improved?
