The bowler did wonders with the bat: When Jasprit Bumrah breaks Brian Lara’s world record

News India Live, Digital Desk: The Bowler Did Wonders with the bat: There are often a few moments on the cricket field, which are recorded forever in history. One such incredible moment was seen in the Edgbaston Test match played against England in 2022. That day, India captain and veteran fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah did wonders with the bat, which no one had imagined. In front, England veteran bowler Stuart Broad, and the over that he thrown became the most expensive over in the cricket record book forever.

35 runs in an over! Bumrah’s historical explosion:

In that historic over, Bumrah scored a total of 35 runs, which became the most expensive over in the history of Test cricket so far. You must be wondering how a bowler beat so much?

Actually, it was the 84th over of England’s innings, and came to bowl Stuart Broad. Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah was batting at that time. What happened in this over was no less than a film script:

  • 1st ball: Broad threw the bouncer which wide crossed the boundary line (4 runs). Then the next ball was no-ball and Bumrah hit a six (7 runs) on it. In this way, 11 runs were scored before the first legal ball.

  • 2nd ball (correctly first): Broad threw and Bumrah hit a four.

  • 3rd ball: Bumrah hit another loud four.

  • 4th ball: This time a six came out of the bat.

  • 5th ball: Broad’s next ball again crossed the boundary for fours.

  • 6th ball (no ball): The ball came out no ball and Broad’s troubles kept increasing.

  • 7th ball (last ball of the over): On this too, Bumrah took a loud single.

On seeing this, a total of 35 runs came out of this over (no ball + six + wide + chowka + six + six + four + single)!

Brian Lara’s record also broke:

Bumrah broke the year -old world record of West Indies great batsman Brian Lara with his blast. Lara had scored 28 runs in one over in Test cricket, which no one had broken for decades. But Jaspreet Bumrah, who is mainly known as a bowler, created history by breaking this impossible by doing so amazing with the bat. This moment will always be memorable for cricket fans!
