Brad Pitt’s high-octane racing drama F1 (Formula One) is proving to be a surprise hit at the Indian box office. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and backed by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and F1 legend Lewis Hamilton, the film has maintained strong momentum into its second week, despite reduced showings.
Strong Hold in Week Two
After opening with ₹5.50 crore on Day 1 a rare achievement for a standalone Hollywood release in India F1 has collected ₹3.25 crore on its second Friday, taking its total to ₹38.69 crore net in India. Trade analysts anticipate the film will cross the ₹50 crore mark by the end of its second weekend.
The movie has been able to keep its momentum despite fresh Indian releases such as Metro…In Dino and Jurassic World Rebirth hitting screens, which suggests good word-of-mouth and a loyal fan base.
Global Success for a Standalone Film
Internationally, F1 has raked in a whopping ₹1600 crore by the second Friday of its release. What adds to this feat is that F1 is not a franchise-driven film—shattering the trend of all Hollywood films backed by franchises working well in India.
