The much-awaited mythological epic Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, has officially dropped its arrival announcement in a big teaser video. The initial look, replete with stunning visuals and humongous scale, has already set the internet abuzz, getting fans stunned with its cinematic scope.
A Whopping ₹1600 Crore Budget for Two-Part Saga
According to Bollywood Hungama, the overall cost of production of the Ramayana franchise is a record ₹1600 crore, the most costly enterprise in the history of Indian cinema. The cost of producing the first part is itself ₹900 crore, and ₹700 crore has been sanctioned for the second part.
An insider of the project described how the disparity in the budget was being utilized: “Most of the investment in Part One is spent on world-building, character design, and set construction. These assets will transfer over into Part Two, which will be mostly devoted to high-end action scenes.”
Global Vision Backed by Strong Production Houses
Ramayana is being made by Namit Malhotra’s DNEG and Prime Focus Studios in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Instead of dealing with the two halves as individual films, the makers are dealing with the franchise as one single investment of ₹1600 crore to maintain global cinema standards.
Talks are on with a major Hollywood studio to deal with international distribution, hinting at makers’ intentions of reaching audiences internationally.
