The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced this on Saturday 5 July and said that the decision has been taken in collaboration with the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
The BCCI said in a press release on Saturday that the two cricket boards have taken this decision with mutual consent. Under this, Team India was to visit Bangladesh for the series of 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches, but now the series will be played in September 2026 instead of August 2025. The reason for this decision has been explained to the international cricket schedule of both cricket teams. The press release stated that the new schedule of the series will be announced at the right time.
However, it was feared that this series was postponed for the last several weeks and the real reason for this was stressed in the relationship between the two countries. Bangladesh and India’s relations have been increasing since the coup last year. There was a constant conflict situation in Bangladesh due to the killings of Hindu minorities as well as anti-India statements of the leaders there. Due to this, questions were being raised on Team India’s visit to Bangladesh.
