Manchester United are reportedly making a move to sign 11-time England international Dominic Calvert-Lewin following the striker's departure from Everton. Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim is desperate for more firepower after his side whimpered to a 15th-place Premier League finish last season.

Calvert-Lewin joined Everton from Sheffield United in 2016 and went on to bag 71 goals in 273 appearances for the Toffees. His most productive season came during the 2020/21 campaign as the striker netted 16 top-flight goals, which earned him a place in Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2020. But he has failed to make it to double digit league goals in the subsequent four campaigns and only found the back of the net three times last season.

According to The Sun, United have reached out to Calvert-Lewin about a move to Old Trafford, with Amorim keen to snap up the ace.

The 13-time Premier League champions believe the 28-year-old would bring qualities they currently lack and could offer him a lucrative contract that includes bonuses for appearances.

The club also think the demands of being a third or fourth-choice starter could suit the player.

United chiefs are juggling their finances while trying to build a new forward line, with Rasmus Hojlund facing the axe after two underwhelming campaigns in England.

The north west giants shelled out £72million to prise the Denmark international away from Atalanta in August 2023 and had high hopes for the ace after he scored a superb solo effort during a Champions League clash with Galatasaray early on in United career.

But he netted just four Premier League goals last season and was forced to share game time with Joshua Zirkzee.

Amorim is looking to revolutionise his attack over the summer, with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony also said to be facing the chop at Old Trafford.

Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan to Aston Villa and has been linked with a move to Barcelona after the Villans opted not to make the move permanent.

Sancho, meanwhile, joined Chelsea on loan at the start of the last campaign and had been set to stay in west London before the Blues paid United a financial penalty to get out of the deal.

Antony enjoyed a new lease of life during a temporary spell with Real Betis last season and helped the team reach the UEFA Conference League final before returning to England.

And Garnacho was reportedly told in May that he could leave the club after taking aim at the club after he had been left out of United's starting line-up for the Europa League final.
