Signing of trade agreement with more than 10 countries

According to American Treasury Secretary Scott Besant, there are a total of 195 countries in the world. Except for Holi C (Vatican City) and Palestine, 193 countries are members of the United Nations. It is not possible to say which countries will come under the purview of tariffs from 1 August 2025, but President Trump has signed letters of trade agreement with more than 10 countries. It is clearly written in the letter that the proposal is ‘Accept or leave it’ and letters will be sent on Monday with this ultimatum.

Let us tell you that President Trump had imposed 26-27% tariff on imported goods from India under the reciprocal tariff on 2 April and Trump claimed that India imposes 100% tariff on American goods, while the US has imposed only one-fourth tariff. However, the tariff imposed on India on 9 April was suspended for 90 days, the deadline of which ends on 9 July. If there is no trade agreement between India and the US till 9 July, then the tariff may have an impact on Indian exports.

What is the purpose of putting tariffs?

Let us tell you that on 2 April 2025, US President Donald Trump imposed a mutual tariff. Under which 10 percent baseline tariff was imposed on imports from all countries. On the basis of trade deficit, additional tariffs are imposed on countries like India, China, Brazil and European Union. Due to the protest, the US increased 245 percent tariff on China, in response to which China imposed 125 percent tariff on American goods. The purpose of Trump’s tariff policy is to reduce America’s trade deficit. Domestic industries have to be promoted in America. Make the slogan of Make America Great Again.
