Daesung, a member of the Korean group Big Bang, posted a vlog over 10 minutes long on his channel on June 26, documenting his journey exploring Ho Chi Minh City and his concert in May.
The video opens with the 1989-born singer recording himself dining at Tan Hai Van Restaurant at 152 Nguyen Trai Street, a place he had visited in August the previous year.
On his return, Daesung again enjoyed his favorite dishes, including coconut smoothie, roasted suckling pig, and seafood spring rolls.
In the video, he says he could “eat 10 spring rolls at once” and comments that the pork tasted “better than last time.”

The restaurant, open for 30 years, specializes in Cantonese cuisine with a menu of over 500 dishes. Their famous items include roast duck, roasted suckling pig, and dim sum.
At the end of April, the restaurant received a reservation call for a group of 30 Korean guests, without revealing their identity.
“Many customers and staff were surprised by Daesung’s appearance,” a representative from Tan Hai Van told VnExpressadding that the singer’s group included bodyguards and dined at noon, a day before his concert. The bodyguards and managers requested staff not to take photos or approach Daesung.
Besides roast pig and spring rolls, Daesung ordered dishes like spicy beef he’s tieu (noodle soup), crab glass noodles, and stir-fried water spinach with garlic. Both visits, he ordered coconut smoothie and finished two glasses on his second visit. The singer compared the spicy beef hu tieu to seolleongtang, a Korean beef soup.
The 11-dish meal cost about $470. The roast pig was priced at $81, and the seafood spring rolls at $6.
After the meal, Daesung visited a supermarket in the city downtown, expressing admiration for local fruits like jackfruit and bananas.
Daesung’s video has attracted hundreds of thousands of likes and comments. Many Vietnamese fans hope the Korean singer will return to enjoy more specialties.
