Huge uproar in Muharram procession: Clashes in these states, many injured, security beefed up

On the occasion of Muharram, riots were seen in many parts of the country on Sunday. During this, some people also died. While many were injured. In many districts of Uttar Pradesh, there was a dispute between two parties during Tazia and in some places even bullets were fired. In Kushinagar district’s Khadda and Ramkola police station areas, there was a minor clash between people of different communities over Muharram procession and sloganeering. Clashes were also seen during Muharram processions in Bareilly and Bahraich districts.

According to Kushinagar Police, a dispute broke out in front of an ancient Shiva temple near Gulharia in Khadda police station area. Where one party alleged that an Islamic flag was hoisted in front of the temple and slogans were raised. According to Kushinagar Police, some youths recorded this incident and posted it on social media, which further increased the tension. Some youths have been detained in connection with this incident.

According to the police, the second dispute took place over playing DJ in Tekuatar market of Ramkola police station area. According to the police, the dispute escalated and a stampede-like situation arose. In which a child named Ikhlaq (eight) got injured in the head.

Similarly, a dispute broke out during the Muharram procession in Nanpara Kotwali area of ​​Bahraich district. Tension arose in a locality of Faridpur area of ​​Bareilly after vandalism over the platform near the place where the Tazia was kept. Angry traders closed shops and protested on the streets. Police arrived to calm the situation and registered a case. 

Bihar

A dispute broke out during the Muharram Tazia procession at Naya Tola Shiv Mandir Chowk in Katihar, Bihar. In view of the tension, the internet was shut down for 24 hours in Katihar. Also, DIG of Purnia division Pramod Mandal reached Katihar and took stock of the situation. He said that the atmosphere is tense but under control.

Similarly, a dispute broke out near Ambedkar Chowk in Choraut police station area of ​​Sitamarhi district. When the Tazia procession deviated from the designated route, the police team deployed on the spot tried to stop the procession. In such a situation, people involved in the Tazia procession attacked the police. People started pelting stones at the police.

Near Kanakati village of Kothiya Bazar of Mehsi police station in East Champaran, 30-35 youths returning from Muharram procession attacked a community of the same village due to old enmity. Swords were used in this fight. In which one youth died. Four people were injured. The injured are being treated. Seeing the seriousness of the incident, DIG Harkishor Rai himself reached the spot, he talked to the victim’s family and took complete information. Police has detained 12 accused involved in this incident. According to sources, one of the 12 has been arrested.

Apart from this, a video of Palestine flag being waved during the Tajia procession in Muzaffarpur surfaced on social media. The video is said to be from Meenapur police station area. Regarding the video, it is being said that this procession was taken out by Haider Akhara. This procession started from Masjid Tola and then while going to Purani Pethiya Karbala, Palestine flag was waved on the way. Along with this, weapons were also waved. Now the police of Meenapur police station has started action regarding the matter. 

Madhya Pradesh

There was a ruckus during the Muharram procession in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on Saturday night. People broke down the police barricades near the Khajur Wali Mosque of the city and started taking the Muharram horse on the prohibited route. The police had to take immediate action and resort to lathi charge. The police have registered a case against 16 people. During this, two policemen were also injured. 

It is being told that despite the route fixed for the procession in the meeting of police administration and officials, some people tried to change the route. Due to which the situation went out of control. Some people in the procession tried to go towards the prohibited route by breaking the police barricades. Police had to do mild lathicharge to control the situation.

Rajasthan

A young man was killed during the Muharram procession in Churu, Rajasthan. A 17-year-old youth was beaten to death. Giving information about the case, Churu DSP Sunil Jhajharia said that during the Muharram procession, a young man had gone to Gauri Colony in Churu with his friends. When he reached near the white clock tower at around 4:30 in the evening, he got into an argument with some people. About a dozen people beat up the minor after a dispute. When he was taken to the hospital, the doctors declared him dead.
