A disappointing news has come out for millions of mobile users across the country. Telecom companies are preparing to make their recharge plans expensive once again. According to a report, due to the increase in the number of net users in the fifth consecutive month, companies have been encouraged to consider increasing tariffs. Experts believe that by December 2025, mobile rates may increase by 10-12%.

Significantly, in July 2024, companies also increased the prices of their base plan by 11-23%. This time companies can bring a tier-based pricing model, in which users will be motivated to buy a separate data pack by reducing the data limit.

Record high of active users

In May 2025, the number of mobile active users in India reached the highest level of 29 months. The number of active mobile users in the country was recorded at about 1.08 billion. Reliance Jio, the leading market in the market, added 55 lakh new users and increased its share to 53%. At the same time, Bharti Airtel added 13 lakh new active users.

Tariff’s combination with 5G services

According to brokerage firm Jefferies, the rapidly growing customer number of Jio and Airtel and the decline in Vodafone Idea customers has created a suitable environment for tariff growth. According to reports, upcoming price increase may be data usage, speed or time -based. That is, customers who use more data may have to pay more money.

Mid and premium users have more impact

Experts believe that telecom companies will make mid and premium category users the main goal this time so that the common users do not affect much. This strategy will be to attract them to additional data packs and high-speed services.

India’s entry in satellite internet race

Meanwhile, another big news has come out. Hyderabad -based company Ananth Technologies has become India’s first private firm which has been allowed to introduce broadband services through indigenous satellite. After getting approval from the IN-Space, the company will now launch a 4-ton’s GEO Communication Satellite, which will start with an investment of Rs 3,000 crore. The company is claiming to give broadband speed of 100 GBPS. At the same time, Alan Musk’s Starlink has not yet received approval for satellite internet service in India. In such a situation, Ananth Technologies can play a big role in shaping India’s digital future.
