The Flash Flood Guidance Cell has said that not only Jharkhand, but dozens of districts in Chhattisgarh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal are also at risk of floods. The districts of Jharkhand that are at risk of floods include Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, Ranchi, Saraikela, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum and Bokaro.

Earlier, the Ranchi-based weather centre had issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in 8 districts of Jharkhand. The weather centre had said that there would be heavy rain at some places in Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti and West Singhbhum. 7 to 11 cm of rain has been predicted in these districts. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms along with strong winds at some places.

The Meteorological Department said that monsoon was active in Jharkhand during the last 24 hours. Monsoon trough is passing through Daltonganj of Jharkhand. Its effect will be seen on the weather. During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall occurred at almost all places. Heavy rain also occurred at some places.

The highest rainfall of 90.2 mm in Jharkhand was recorded in Chandwa of Latehar district. During this period, the highest maximum temperature of 32.8 degree centigrade was recorded in Godda and the lowest minimum temperature of 21.6 degree centigrade was recorded in Gumla. Today, 19.6 mm rainfall was recorded in Daltonganj.
