Luke Littler has revealed the three greatest moments of his fledgling darts career. A Premier League and world champion at just 18, the Nuke has produced plenty of defining moments already from which he could choose.
Defeating Raymond van Barneveld in the 2024 World Championship heralded Littler's arrival on the big stage. It was his first-ever victory over a former world champion at Alexandra Palace. It was such a special occasion that the world No. 2 has ranked it as the third-greatest moment of his career, despite some other big successes over the sport's best stars since then. Van Barneveld had announced his decision to return from retirement four years earlier and was still without a major title in that time - so a loss against Littler would have ranked.
Lifting the 2024 Premier League and the 2025 World Championship rank second and first, respectively, in Littler's list.
He said: "I think number three is... It's either my first game of the Worlds on debut or beating Barney in round four. But I'll probably say beating Barney. First I faced Christian Kist, and then it was Andrew Gilding, and then it was Matt Campbell and then Barney.
"But when I won my first two games, it went on for Christmas. But while we were home, I'm pretty sure Gary Anderson lost, Gerwyn Price lost - I was with them in the bracket.
"So as soon as they went out, I was like, we've got Matt Campbell, he's come over from Canada on Boxing Day, I'm pretty sure. So if we get past him, then it's Barney. And if we get past Barney, fancy my chance against Brendan Dolan. Then it was Rob Cross or Chris Dobey.
"Obviously Raymond, I think he's retired three times now, but he's always come back. So I was like, does he want it? Is he hungry? But yeah, just leading up to it, I was just like, practice, make sure you're ready for it. And then, yeah, I went on to win 4-1.
"Second [greatest moment], I'll probably say the Premier League. Number one's World Championship, 2025."
Littler was unable to retain the Premier League in May this year. Luke Humphries defeated him in a thrilling final at the O2 Arena. He will return to Alexandra Palace for his defence of the World Championship later this year.
